Make your own Critter

If you've been following my blog you will have seen posts about my papier-mâché models.

I make display models for shops and hotels and really enjoy creating fun pieces for children's departments in local hospitals and clinics.

Sometimes they are characters from books like my 'Gruffalo' and 'Dobby'. At other times they are simply 'critters' with their own unique shape and personality.

Sculpturing, whether it be with clay or paper or papier-mâché, is my favourite way to relax so it is lovely to have work which makes me feel good and also makes others happy.

This is the first of two blogs complete with instructional video, showing you how to create your own character.

Aluminium foil forms the basis, the skeleton, of all my models. This can be moulded in much the same way as clay but is cheaper, more adaptable and definitely less messy!

It's something to do during boring journeys or while sat watching TV. The finished piece is very durable and can even be made weatherproof. I've had the character above outside over the spring and summer without any deterioration. It has survived high winds, heavy rain and temperatures of 40C!

Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you will enjoy watching the video below and will feel inspired to try my method.

Watch out for the next blog when I will be finishing this latest critter.
