Perugia is one of my favourite places and, with its amazing views and beautiful buildings, a source of inspiration for many of my decorative plates painted with coffee and saffron.

Being our nearest city and only a twenty minute drive away, it is also the location of our bank, shops and medical services. We are usually there at least once a week and always take the opportunity to have a walk around the centre or, if time allows, a walk around the walls.

We always enjoy a coffee at one of our two favourite bars.

The shot above was taken from the Ristorante Il Sole. An amazing location with views over Perugia, the valley and the far mountains from the large outside terrace. Inside is also light and airy.

Another favourite within the centre is the bar/restaurant. 'Ristorante Il Bistro' on Piazza Giacomo. Again there is seating outside from where one can view all the activity on the piazza. Inside has a very warm, friendly and traditional atmosphere.

if you visit Perugia you should take time to wander off the Main Street. No matter which side street chosen you will find beautiful and interesting views and buildings.

One of our favourite walks is along Via Appia .
